I have twenty years of experience as a writing tutor up to and including PhD level in poetry, fiction, and literary criticism, and have published work myself in all these genres. I would be delighted to work with you on your poetry, fiction or other writing project.
- I can offer written feedback on a draft, or a combination of written feedback and video discussion via Skype, Zoom or FaceTime – or a simple phone call.
- I am happy to offer one-off sessions, for example, written feedback on 20000 words of prose fiction (or 250 lines of poetry) and a one-hour video discussion,
- I also offer ongoing mentoring of, for example, 10 x monthly written feedback and one-hour video discussions, each looking at the same quantity of work in progress.
In your creative work
- I will consider themes, form, genre and style, and how each of these can be polished and enhanced.
- I also look closely at submitted work in terms of tone, pace, perspective, narrative threads and sensory details.
- I encourage awareness of setting and cultural context, and will also make reading recommendations where relevant.
- My feedback will include aspects of all of these approaches and I will return your draft manuscript with in-line comments and a report generally of between 700-1000 words, depending on length.
- While I am not primarily offering proof-reading, I will clearly flag up examples of any proof-reading or presentation issues needing attention.
I am happy to share my knowledge of contemporary writing markets and to make recommendations where appropriate.

My suggested rates are as follows:
£100 for written feedback and one hour video discussion of up to 20000 words of fiction or other prose, or up to 250 lines of poetry. If you don’t want a video discussion I am happy to answer up to six follow-up queries by email instead.
I can adjust the cost to reflect the word- or line-count of your draft.
10% discount if you book 5 or more mentoring sessions for example: 10 x written feedback and video discussions = £900.
